Wenty’s Ron Massey Woes Continue
Wentworthville received the opening kickoff. However, St Marys were the first to open the scoring with a try to their prop forward Falefa Letoi. It took Wentworthville just nine minutes to return serve with a try of their own coming in the 13th minute from a 25-metre dashing effort by Joshuah Minhinnick, and as fate would have it, only another short nine minutes until Wentworthville took the lead through the strong efforts of their fullback Austin Quast. A short nine minutes later, veteran NRL player Michael Jennings was sent to the sin-bin for a professional foul.
St Marys, being a man down, were undeterred by this, scoring two more tries in those 10 minutes with efforts from Zac Duclos and Semisi Kioa.
Wentworthville started to mount their counter-attacking with a try from Prop Denzal Tonise six minutes after halftime. Followed by a piece of individual brilliance by Winger Beau Newlands to extend Wentworthville's lead.
Unfortunately, that was all that the match had in store for the Magpies, with St Marys adding three unanswered tries by Zac Greene, Brad Keighran, and Michael Jennings.

Coach's Comment:
Disappointed with the loss. We just made too many errors at crucial times. They played some good footy at times and will only get better as that was the first game together for our halves, who both played well.
A lot of positives to come out of the game and we did lose Adam Spicer after 20 minutes and Ryan Pritchard just after half time, so we played the second half with just two on the bench, that made the job harder. The defense was a bit sloppy in the second half due to fatigue, and we only had 38% possession in the second half.
You can't do that against a quality side like St Marys and expect anything else but the result we got.
My GripStar Wentworthville Player of the Match is Austin Quast
